By tradition, I am summing up the results this year. By tradition, I choose a photo of the year for myself and give the year a name. For example, 2017 is the year of travel, 2018 is the year of exploring dilapidated housing, 2019 is the year of abandoned villages, 2020 is reportage photography, 2021 is courtyard spaces, 2022 is street photography, and 2023 is dugouts. And I don't even know what to call 2024, because it turned out to be a very diverse year.
And I still couldn't choose the photo of the year...maybe I'll do it later, when 2025 comes.
I've been on all possible creative waves, shooting everything in general: the street, the reports, the sky, the dugouts, the graphics, the close-up, the moon...There is no exact definition for this year.
This year will be called diverse. And to summarize, I have so many photos that I do not know how to fit them into one post.
At the very beginning of the year, I continued to study and feel the atmosphere of the dugouts.
It was difficult to photograph them while I crawling through the snowdrifts.
Towards the end of winter, I was turned off from night travel and switched to the reporting wave. It happened after a trip to Skorodumka, and it became fixed after a night walk around Belozersk. There I clearly realized that nothing was bothering me at all.
The reporting wave did not begin immediately, but as soon as it entered into full force, it passed at maximum efficiency values.
I discovered new themes in the form of silhouettes of black snowdrifts and colored reflections in puddles. That is, I was able to show the ugly to the beautiful.
The wave lasted almost until the middle of summer.
During this time, I managed to pay attention to different areas: spotted street, reportage aesthetic street, moonrises and moonsets, flowering vegetation...even at night.
I also studied the stories that I repeat from year to year in the same places and tried to repeat them again.
This direction is called street repeat.
The second wave of street repeat was in late November and early December.
I went through the whole archive again and found even more repetitions.
With the onset of summer, the reporting wave did not end, but faded into the background.
The metaphysics of nocturnal spaces among vegetable stores captured her primacy again.
There were also trips to natural places in different regions of the region.
By tradition, I visited St. Petersburg with its SPIEF exhibition, but I've actually been to Moscow five times!
I also paid a lot of attention to the graphics of different types of clouds.
Dugouts, dugouts, dugouts! There were more and more of them, and the places were becoming more interesting. I found a lot of new places on the map, which I visited almost all of them.
To this day, many of my photographs travel to Russian cities that present the Vologda Region at airports and train stations.
Some of the pictures have even been to Beijing!
Towards the end of autumn, I switched off from dugouts again, as well as from miracles and mysticism, and the reporting wave took the first place again. And at the end of the year, we managed to "sum up the results" together with the President!
In general, 2024 was so rich in various events that there has never been such a thing in any year.
The last time I had such a wave was in 2021, both in terms of the number of photos and the intensity of events. But this year has surpassed the others in all respects.
If the new year 2025 is at least the same (don't drop the bar!), then I will be only glad.
But of course, we need even more events, even more diverse topics and trips!
And mysticism and miracles, as it turned out, can be combined with all other creative waves and genres.
I usually wish for an increase in my efficiency, or vice versa, for the maximum depth of sensations.
This time, let the new year be as diverse as possible, unstable in terms of genre and bright for everything!
If there is a wave of reporting, then at the highest level, and if the metaphysics of places and sensations from them are the most penetrating into the depths of consciousness!
PS: this year I haven't shown a single reportage photo taken during my work (with the exception of a couple of thematic posts), so I want to sum up the year once again, but with other pictures that no one has seen.
