Other than photographing a couple of weddings this year, my camera gear hasn't nearly gotten the work out it deserves, or the efforts I've wanted to put into it. Since moving house in August, I've constantly been thinking about art, and photography, and being creative.
I'm hoping that I'll jump into a group exhibition or two next year, as I've got some like-minded creatives who now live close to me and have some connections to the gallery scene in the local area. It will be nice to have my work on walls, and to establish it as a fine art practice as opposed to just being something that lives on the Internet and not anywhere else.
These portraits were taken from a connection estabilished over a local TFP group. It was a warm-ish day, there was unremarkable light, and I carried around my softbox as we dodged joggers and bike riders and playing children. This was very much me trying to make the best of some rather (putrid) water in the background of many images, as we're not known for having the most pristine looking rivers down in this part of the world.
I also needed to pay particularly careful attention to Phoebe's dress, owing to the fact that too much exposure and too much light would wash out all the detail. This, balanced with her pale complexion made for a rather challenging lighting situation, but I think I managed to get it done to a professional standard.
Images are pretty much as shot. Some have had a vingette added. Shot on various Nikon lenses in my collection.
Enjoy!
You can view more of my photographic work on my website. There's also lots of posts on HIVE. Check them out in a collection.
Most of these images were shot with a Godox Ad200 flash in a 80cm softbox. Lenses used were Nikon Z 35, Nikon Z 85, and possibly the Nikon Z 24-70 f/2.8
If you want to kill someone, dispose of the body, and render it so toxic that the coroner won't do an autopsy; the Torrens is the place for you.
