The Principality of Asturias, rightly known as Natural Paradise, is a small universe rich in contrasts, details, sensations and genuinely picturesque places, which are worth savoring and, as far as possible, also make known.
As a presentation and in consideration that I have a very special affection for you, because not in vain I chose it in my last trips to Asturias as the ideal base to carry out my projects with some comfort, I will start with a small presentation of the former Council of Maliayo: the current Villaviciosa.
Villaviciosa is a beautiful villa, which has multiple attractions, both in the picturesque and remote inland villages, as well as in those others located on the edge of its splendid estuary and therefore, in front of that wonderful and feared Cantabrian Sea, among which It is worth mentioning, for example, San Martín del Mar, El Puntal –with its marina- and of course, the beautiful and historic town of Tazones.
It is a region that stands out, in addition, for having a meritorious historical-artistic heritage, both in that fascinating Asturian or Pre-Romanesque Art, and in the immediately subsequent style, the Romanesque, among whose most relevant buildings include: San Salvador de Fuentes, San Andrés de Bedriñana, San Andrés de Valdebárcena, Santa María de la Lloraza, San Juan de Amandi, Santa María de la Oliva, the sanctuary of Santa María de Lugás - pilgrim way - San Salvador de Valdedios - the popular 'Conventín'- or the Cistercian monastery of Santa María, also in Valdedios, next to the latter.
But Villaviciosa has, in addition to the famous cider factory ‘El Gaitero’ - whose slogan all life has been known as ‘famous throughout the world’ - a charming and cozy old town, which is a delight to walk around.
It should be noted in this, the beautiful Riera Theater, now converted into an Information and Tourism Office but retaining its historical originality, the beautiful surrounding mansions, many of which still retain the shields of the millennial lineages of knights who raised and occupied them , the palaces of the Indians - immigrants who became wealthy in 'the Americas' and returned to die on their land, thus leaving part of their fortune there - and former Gothic palaces, where gentlemen from the Principality were born and where they stayed overnight also Emperor Carlos V, when a storm forced the ship he was traveling to land in Tazones.
But perhaps, the best, after all, its excellent location next to the Cantabrian Highway, which is easily accessible and allows tourists and travelers to start complex routes, whether their intention is to go to Galicia, or in the opposite direction, to Cantabria and the Basque Country.

Beautiful villa!
A charming villa. Thank-you
Hi, friend: please to see you again
