Anyone would say that its location is in the middle of nowhere, as one might think a priori, but, in reality, located in the heart of old Celtiberia and later, of that arid border of the Duero, which for centuries separated the quarrels of two other Spain before Machado -Christian and Muslim- has made him one more of those wonderful towns of the mythical Iberia, condemned to ostracism, which, despite everything and mainly because of the solid roots of its people, still preserve their numantian spirit, refusing to die. A town with a lot of history, located, moreover, in the vicinity of that amazing troglodyte city, Tiermes or Termancia and which can only be accessed, at least by car, by a small country road and which still, furthermore, to the delight of the cultural traveler, it preserves two invaluable Romanesque churches, whose vision and study are well worth the adventure of a trip.
Cualquiera diría que su situación, en mitad de ninguna parte, como pudiera pensarse a priori, pero, en realidad, situado en el corazón de la vieja Celtiberia y posteriormente, de esa árida frontera del Duero, que durante siglos separó las rencillas de otras dos Españas anteriores a Machado -la cristiana y la musulmana- ha hecho de él, uno más de esos maravillosos pueblos de la mítica Iberia, condenados al ostracismo, que, a pesar de todo y mayormente por las sólidas raíces de sus gentes, todavía conservan su espíritu numantino, negándose a morir. Un pueblo con mucha historia, situado, además, en las inmediaciones de esa alucinante ciudad troglodita, Tiermes o Termancia y al que sólo se accede, al menos en automóvil, por una pequeña carretera comarcal y que todavía, además, para deleite del viajero cultural, conserva dos inapreciables iglesias románicas, cuya visión y estudio, bien merecen la aventura de un desplazamiento.
