Si alguien pidiera mi opinión, acerca de quién propongo como el mejor cronista de Castilla, les aseguro que no lo dudaría ni un solo instante: Miguel Delibes.
Porque en la amplia mira visionaria de Delibes, hay espacio para la Castilla de Bartolomé Cossío, cuyo paisaje es el cielo y también hay espacio -de sobra, añadiría- para la Castilla de Ortega y Gasset o de Unamuno o de tantos otros que se dejaron las pestañas contemplándola y de la que pensaban que en cuyo horizonte, no existen curvas.
Todo esto, consignado larga y delicadamente en la obra de Delibes, podría ser, en resumen, la Castilla que merece la pena conocer: aquella que Delibes consideraba como la Castilla esencial. Una Castilla, que además de ancha -como dice obstinadamente un viejo refrán- es también histórica y sobre todo, diversa.
If someone asked for my opinion, about who I propose as the best chronicler of Castile, I assure you that I would not doubt it for a single moment: Miguel Delibes.
Because in Delibes' broad visionary vision, there is room for the Castile of Bartolomé Cossío, whose landscape is the sky, and there is also room - to spare, I would add - for the Castile of Ortega y Gasset or Unamuno or so many others who left the eyelashes contemplating it and of which they thought that on whose horizon, there are no curves.
