California Poppies

in Photography5 years ago (edited)

There's rain predicted later today in SoCal, but we haven't had near as much this year as last, so the golden poppies (Eschscholzia californica) aren't near as plentiful as they were in 2019.

I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago when my wife felt like taking a drive. We traveled north, through Santa Barbara, then past Lake Cachuma and into Solvang, Buellton and Los Olivos...basically the locations for the 2009 film Sideways. If you haven't seen that movie, I highly recommend it. Unlike the characters in that picture, I didn't imbide in any California wine, having given up alcohol for Lent. Could I have picked a worse year to give up alcohol???
