HEY THERE LIZARD, WHY SO BLUE?

in Photography5 years ago

Dude!

Yup, when you see that blue color on the sides and throat of a Prairie Lizard AKA a Fence Lizard, that means it's a dude (male). I had a few minutes of waiting time while we were waiting to cross Lake Bull Shoals on a ferry the other day, so I crawled off into the bushes in search of adventure. I ran into some impressive creatures, but my favorite was this stunning male Eastern Fence Lizard. Here's a couple more photos of this impressive reptile. Enjoy!

Nature is amazing!

Wow such a vibrant blue! I would expect this to not be found in lizards, as they have to camouflage and blue is not a common colour in nature. Interesting.

Amazing fence lizard,,, I've never seen this before. Really very best adventure,,, thanks.
