An old crone, prime of life long past, yet still mother to the forest creatures whom depend on her for food and shelter.
Its age shows from being stripped of its once protective bark long ago, yet still she shines love upon her forest, continuing to give of herself to the insects that thrive and live within her.
Those insects then sustaining the woodpeckers and other birds. The woodpeckers working away at the trunks with their tireless beaks.
And then small birds and other woodland creatures can then make their homes among the holes the woodpeckers leave behind.
All grateful on some level for this mother crone still standing tall, perhaps holding on to the last vestiges of life in its roots, before someday returning back into the mother earth she once grew and thrived in so long ago, the circle again complete.
As always remember that it is all about the little things in life, and thanks for looking in! :)
