Hello #naturalmedicine, @minismallholding
Introduction
So this is my first post here and you know what, I have always wanted to share a post here as we use natural medicines on a daily basis for various reliefs and better health but i really got confused on what to write. Finally I'm confident that i found some good content and i hope you guys like it.
About Me
Hello once again, I'm Arun Biju. I am from the state of Kerala in India. Kerala is quite known for a form of treatment called Ayurveda that mostly relies on ancient knowledge about herbs and various natural medicine. I am a Civil Engineering graduate who is passionate about technology, Crypto , Gaming and learning about the world.
The Topic
I won't be discussing Ayurveda in this write-up instead i will be discussing about a garden and it's contents in a farming village here in Kerala know as Kanthaloor.
Kanthaloor
Let me start by saying that Kanthaloor is a popular tourist destination here in Kerala. Kanthaloor is located almost 50KM from Munnar (Another popular tourist destination).
The thing that makes this place unique is its cold climate and fertile lands where people cultivate a variety of crops through out the year. Kanthaloor also happens to be the recidency of my grandparents. As i am staying with them for a couple days i decided to share some local goodness with #hive
The Garden
Now let's start looking at some Fruits and vegetables in our garden.
Vegitables
Egg plant and Tomatoes are a common sight in every Kerala home here in India. We use them very often while cooking.
Here we can see some cauliflower and potatoes , now it is not a common practice to grow these in home but here people grow it mainly for commercial purposes.
These are some fresh beans.
These are some varieties of chillies, Chillies are also home grown almost everywhere in Kerala.
Mustad plants are Grown along with the beans like this. With this I'm ending the Vegitables section and start the fruits section and I yes I placed Tomato in the Vegitables section.
Fruits
Nothing beats freshly plucked Strawberry right from your garden.
We also have a couple of orange and apple trees. They are not grown commercially in our garden but you know they are a good addition.
This fruit is called as a plum, they are sweet and sour . When ripe they become dark red in colour.
Now this is one of my favourites and it's called as a peach, Its taste and its smell is just so unique.
Now this is a wild berry that grows here , It also has this unique indescribable taste to it and i don't know its name though.
Conclusion
Well, I guess now you know why Kanthaloor is known as a farming village here in Kerala. This post is in response to the Garden Journal challenge, hosted by @riverflows, that you can find here.
Hope you guys gained something new ☮️.
