Days in a row of migraines. How I used natural medicine and the things I enjoy to ease the pain.

in Natural Medicine3 years ago

So this last week kind of sucked. I had 5 days in a row with migraines so bad it brought tears to my eyes. I spent nearly 5 full days in the solitude of my bedroom... with of course, my favorite being on earth, my cat Chrissy :"D

I am no stranger to headaches and migraines. For me it is just part of life. This is likely because of an aneurysm that I had when I was younger. Because of this, and just random research, I have come to know a lot about how to manage these situations.

Natural Remedy's that I used to deal with the pain and boredom.

(1) A Cats Purr - Did you know that the frequency of a cats purr is considered a healing frequency??? It is actually well established that a cats purr, between 25hz-100hz can be both therapeutic and literally healing. My sweet little Chrissy stayed by my side 24/7 during this episode.
- “Purrs at a frequency of 25-100Hz correspond with established healing frequencies in therapeutic medicine for humans. Bone responds to 25-50Hz and skin and soft tissues to around 100Hz according to researchers."

(2) Hydration and "Adequate" Sleep - Not being properly hydrated can lead to headaches. That in itself is well known. But, inadequate hydration is also directly correlated to irritability. My doctors always stay on me about staying hydrated as the reason I get headaches, and migraines so often is because of my aneurysm.
I also monitored how much sleep I was getting. To much sleep is just as bad as to little sleep in these situations. My aim was 7-9 hours of sleep a day. This left me with a lot of painful hours on my hands. Hence, below.

(3) Small Things to Enjoy - As of late I have an absolute obsession with the game Splinterlands. I was able to turn the brightness of my phone down super low and turn off the volume. This allowed me to do my daily quests, I was also able to find a guild this week!!, I was also able to do some research into the cards that I have, and what I would like to obtain.
Though of the fights that I did while I wasn't feeling well.... I lost most of them lol. This really did hurt my win ratio a lot!! But hey It gave me something to do when I was hurting but still to awake to sleep.

(I got my butt kicked haha, but hey... it gave me something to do. Before this I was closer to a 60% win/loss ratio.)

(4) Cold Compress - This is a very well known, and not to be forgotten remedy for headaches/migraines. I typically put the cold compress on the back of my neck. This helps by constricting blood vessels, and reducing inflammation. I am sure there are other ways this helps also but... these are the ones I know haha.

Thank you so much for tuning into my little blog here. I am well on my way to feeling better and would consider todays headache, negligible....

Chrissy is an angel. Hope you feel better asap, and I did not know that cats purr is considered a healing frequency... Seems like I need a Cat (a Chrissy one) in my life! — !discovery 20

I have a personal stake in this post. My wife suffers from chronic migraines especially after the birth of our last son.

Cold compresses helps a lot. I tried the kitty path, but I had to return it when we found out she was allergic.

We’re still looking for ways to prevent them from occurring or trying to minimize its impact on her life.

I sure hope that what I said helps at all. I sure know that it can make life.... draining.... I think my Chrissy though is my savior.... I am sorry the Kitten won't work for you guys.
Best of luck!

I think I was 15 or 16, when I started having headaches. Figured all the thing's I was "experimenting" with were to blame. They would just come on, then were over... tolerable.

As I got older, they continued; I have terrible sinus issues, and that never helped... I was diagnosed with "Vascular Migraines", then given Immitrex. Told to stop smoking, change sleeping habits, diet, and etcetera. They went away, surprisingly, when I joined the Army. But before I served my time, they returned.

I started a new job, and took advantage of actually having health insurance... same diagnosis... migraines. Change sleeping habits, etcetera. But after finding I had been contaminated with over 10k times the permissible level of TCE (Trichloroethylene) I realized something was terribly wrong.

I started seeing a Neurologist, and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Autonomic Headaches, as I had no symptoms of classic migraines. It took my other half demanding an MRI in 2015, to find out I had Multiple Sclerosis... I was finally diagnosed in 2016, and it all made sense...

I don't have the same problems as you, but I understand the excruciating pain; one ER trip, I was given Fentanyl, Morphine, Depakote, and finally Dilaudid, and the pain returned 20 minutes later. That, was a long year...

But... I rely on prayer, family, friends, cannabis, and many things like Tiger Balm, soaking in Epsom salts, and biofeedback. I also utilize my time on the Blockchain, as a means to share these vibes of positive energy and love.

You are right where you need to be, and I'm glad you are... Much love brother 🙏
