Before I get to the main story of this post, I wanted to share a couple of things that are on my mind at the moment.
on the positive side, it is being a good week for me when it comes to post writing, this one being the 5th (!).
I am feeling inspired and motivated to write and enjoy the interactions with many other users.
also, thanks to @vincentnijman @clareartista and @melinda010100 , I am now using #waves more often and enjoying this incorporation too.
on the negative side,
i do feel somewhat stuck in place when it comes to advancing in the platform. while I suppose it is normal, I still feel frustrated. having been at 62 for as long as I can remember.
if you have any thoughts on how to break free from this place, I´d love to hear what you think 🙏
Harvesting Rue for seeds
so while I was minding my own business and trying to stay out of trouble, as I do, I stumbled upon one of my 5 Rue plants (Ruta graveolens) and realized it was ready for seed harvesting.
Once the flowering cycle is over, the flowers dry out and the seed pods are opening, offering the seeds for whoever appreciates their gift.
I never actually counted how many seeds are in any one of the pods but a rough guess judging by their size is probably about twelve to fifteen.
I hold the dried stems upright using my left hand, while cutting them using my right one, trying to keep the seeds from falling out.
All cuttings are collected in a bucket.
I then crush the cuttings by hand as much as I can. you can see that in this case the cutting are reduced to almost nothing. I am not too worried about trying to separate the seeds, as I intend to spread all of this material on soil for germination.
Evenly spread in two pots, I then moisten the soil and cover with some mulch. there are an estimated 200 seeds in each pot.
Once germinated and reach a certain size, plants are then transplanted into our 2L. pots that are then taken to our local farmer markets. 🌱
