Moringa is known all over the world that have a lot of good benefits to our health as well as garlic and ginger. Moringa leaves, garlic, and ginger are used to cook soup, make tea, famous ingredients of herbal medicine, and it is even added to bread. There are bakeshops in my country, Philippines who are selling bread and muffins with Moringa and garlic.

Moringa leaves – people in my locality use them to lower the cholesterol and blood sugar in their body, and it is a well–known green leafy vegetable that contains a lot of vitamins and nutrients that nourish the body.

Garlic – It is commonly used in my place to lower blood pressure, and I also heard, it is prevention and remedy for cancer. I saw my eldest brother one time; he eats raw garlic to lower his blood pressure.

Ginger – it is used as a tea or additional ingredients for drinks for it is good for our digestion. It is known in my place to eliminate stomach gas.

Our yard is surrounded by Moringa plants. My mother planted most of it because she likes to eat Moringa soup all the time. She is already 75 up but still very healthy. Her memory is still sharp, her knees are still strong, and she can still work in the garden. That is her exercise early in the morning and in the late afternoon.

After that day I went to the doctor and found out what happened inside my body, I realized a lot of things about my health. I tried to recall the eating habits of my grandparents who lived to the age of 90 up. They do not have any illnesses. They died because they are too old already.

Most of the time, their diets were vegetables, fruits, and organic foods from their yard. I can remember that they keep eating Moringa soup in their breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and they do not use seasonings, and if they put salt, it is just a pinch, and the soup does not even have a taste. It is tasteless, but healthier. In every dish they cook, there is always Moringa leaves as one of the ingredients.

I still have other vegetables in our yard like lemongrass, basil, onions, camote tops, spinach, eggplant and okra or lady’s fingers. I can also add other vegetables to the soup.

In the soup that I cooked; I only have three ingredients. The Moringa leaves, garlic, and ginger. The three ingredients are well known for their medicinal properties. Below are the steps in cooking the soup.

First: I prepare the Moringa leaves by removing them from the stem. Then, I place it on a strainer so that it is easy for me to wash the leaves.

It is best to eat the soup while it is still hot. It is tasteless because I did not put salt or other seasonings.

The Moringa soup with ginger and garlic that I cooked today is the only food that I consume for breakfast. If I am at home, I will always eat Moringa soup every day. I can have it for breakfast or for dinner. I trained myself to eat less rice or no rice at all after knowing the condition of my body.

It is not easy for me not to have rice or less rice in every meal, but I need to control it. I will cut it gradually until my body is used to it.

I learned a lot of things about how important it is to maintain a healthy body. Being sick might keep me away from my loved ones. It makes me spend a lot of money for medicine and medical or laboratory tests. It utilized my time for keep going to the doctor or hospital. The time could be spent with family and friends or could be spent in a productive way like recreational activity. Lastly, it might stop me in pursuing my dreams and goals in life.

That would be all. Thank you for reading my blog and for having my back. Take care everyone. Let us eat healthy and stay healthy.
