Alas, those days are gone down home, I no longer have any property there, the ground water is so depleted that the springs which helped feed the river in between rains have dried up.
Now, between rains, you can walk across the river bed in many places.
It breaks my heart just to think about what was lost there.

I grew up in the woods, not a farm, but our home was in the woods, 5 miles outside the small town where I was born, and ¼ mile from the Canoochee River in South Georgia USA. I spent many happy hours wandering through those woods and the river banks, watching and listening to the wildlife.
