The word guru means teacher and master. They are the same thing. And even though we may find fakes, there are real masters or teachers. We all learn from teachers in the spiritual path. They translate and write the books of knowledge which are crucial for the spiritual path. Otherwise it's a speculation. I get your point.

I understand, but in my case the teachers is not ''formal'', my dad, my siblings, my aunts/uncles, my grandparents, my friends, my past and present relationships, each one is a teacher. It depends on how you view the lessons you learn throughout your life. You too can be a teacher and you are one. They are different points and in my case I don't follow a temple, a religion, a leader, etc. In the text it warns of false teachers, but it does not deny the existence of real ones. Jesus Christ, was a teacher and there is a text with his teachings (the bible), for example.
