I just learned a new Spanish word. Although here in Suriname most people speak Dutch, there are many Cubans here. I recently noticed a house with some lemongrass out front, noticed the owner was Spanish-speaking, and I assumed perhaps the name was citronella in Spanish, but I wasn't sure. Now I understand why she looked at me in a confused way until I showed her the plant. After we arrived at the plant, I asked if we could cut some because it is not so common here in Suriname.
The Guyanese call it "fevergrass" because they use it for mostly tea to help colds and the flu.
