Welcome to a new month as we head into autumn or spring, depending on where you are. For me it should be spring, but this cold spell makes me feel like I'm on the other side of the world again!
Things happening in the community.
It's a new month so, of course, @simplymike's gardening journal challenge is in full swing, for you to share what's been happening in your garden in september.
Welcoming Newcomers
A newcomer to the Hive side, @thediyworld blogged a couple of years ago on Steem, but has come back to give Hive a go. I hope we can show what improvements have been made since the old blockchain and give this off grid homesteader the attention he deserves!
A fresher newcomer is @knit-stich-witch, who landed here this week and has found and introduced herself to the @needleworkmonday community as an avid knitter and salvager of yarn!
Some highlights of the week
I found this a thoroughly fascinating walk through on bonsai pruning from @creativetruth. Even if you aren't interested in bonsai, a lot can be learnt about plants, as their features are discussed during this process.
It turns out that container gardening on a budget can get quite creative. @homestead-guru gives us 7 different ideas for DIY container gardening.
When you keep chickens, you're always on the lookout for new recipes for eggs in those abundant months. This is why @myscribble's Turkish menemen recipe caught my eye.
Each week one of our featured authors will be selected to be a 5% beneficiary of The Lotus Garden newsletter. This week @creativetruth will receive this award.

Ah I missed ALL of these @minismallholding! Slacker. Thanks for the compilation! And congrats to @creativetruth for the beneficiary. I always think your bonsai are SUPER cool!
Hope you didn't miss the garden journal challenge!!
I was going to post today!!! I might be late though aaaahhhhh
Appreciating this curation - and always enjoying to seeing old STEEM pople come back to Hive! It's the FIRST place we should be focused to grow Hive, is to keep and convert the people we had. Thankfully JS is helping by driving STEEM into the ground.
Loving to see things growing, eggs being laid and growth being documented & celebrated.
Around here, fall is in full swing and we have potatoes, carrots and onions coming out of the ground... and still enjoying the freshness. Oh, and pumpkins! Lot of eating pumpkins ripening, and @cosmictriage has been researching lots of interesting things to do with pumpkin!
Thank you!! 💚
Food, clothing, shelter, you've got it all covered in this one @minismallholding. Awesome inspiring curation, I do hope @myscribble uses the #naturalmedicine and #plantbased for any future vegan recipes. I always love seeing new vegan chefs on NM.
