What fabulous photos were shared for Week 1 of this challenge!!!! I ended up having to change the way I recognised and awarded contributors, as there was almost too many images for me to include entirely in one post. After discussion with @minismallholding, I decided to publish the winners of Week 1 under categories on the @lotusshares account, setting each person whose photos were used a 5 percent beneficiary. I also only am selected the clearest, sharpest and most well composed pictures, as they are the ones that will be more likely to be used by the Hive community.
The first publication for the week is here.
I'm sure you will agree with my decision to award this photograph 20 HIVE - thanks @qwerrie for your gorgeous shot! Remember, YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER TO WIN.
I've been saving my favourites as they come up in the STOCK IMAGES community, putting them in a desktop folder marked STOCK IMAGES. I'll be using them as background photos for NATURAL MEDICINE thumbnails, and if I use your photo, you'll be awarded with a small beneficiary. So the more you enter, the more chance you have to earn from the photographs you contribute.
How does this work?
- Hive users nominate their photographs through posting in the community or simply using the #hivestockimages tag.
- This allows other Hivers to know what images might be used
- We can search within the community for stock images to use, setting the photographer or blogger a small beneficiary, if required
Natural Medicine would like to add to the photo pool by creating a post with a number of 'natural medicine' images, posted via @lotushares under the relevant categories through the week. Earnings will be used towards upvotes.
Add your photographs as a comment below, and we'll reward each entry with LOTUS (plus burn the total amount distributed by sending it to @null)
At the end of the week, we'll do the same thing - post the best under categories under @lotusshares, setting you as part beneficiary, and the rest towards powering up @lotusshares. This will help anyone looking for stock images under that topic to find them easily.
Remember @lotusshares is used to reward delegators and vote on excellent Natural Medicine content.
What do I get out of it?
- You will be set as part beneficiary on the 'wrap up' post.
- You will be credited for the image, gaining more exposure for your blog.
- Anyone wishing to use your image MUST credit you in the future and, if required by you, set you as post beneficiary.
- You will be in the running to win a total of 100 HIVE, judged by @minismallholding and @artemislives
- All entries will be given some LOTUS to sell, stake, burn or transfer (new users should always be favoured so that they gain some LOTUS to play with too!)
What kind of images can I share?
The photographs should be sharp and clear, and original. Try taking photographs of some of the following topics.
You could also contribute graphic images, botanical drawings, line drawings or cartoons.
What should I take photographs of?
- Herbs and medicinal plants (please tell us botanical and common name)
- Herbal preparations etc tincturing, alchemy, pestle and mortar, herbal vinegars
- Clinical natural medicine settings eg consultation rooms
- Crystals
- Natural medicine books eg stacks of books in a 'natural' setting
- Yoga and meditation photography
- Healthy eating
- 'Wellness' buzzwords in text, such as the below image. You might find inspiration by searching key wellness words.
- Massage & physical therapy images
- Passive images to convey rest, peace and sleep
- Earth connection images to convey grounding, earth-healing and connection

Can I create a post with a selection of photographs and use THAT as my entry, rather than a comment?
Yes, of course. Make sure you drop the post link under this post, and post within the Stock Image community. Title your post: STOCK IMAGES [TOPIC] - for example, STOCK IMAGES: HERBS
Do I have to buy and burn LOTUS to enter?
No. But we sure do appreciate it, as it helps add value to the token, which benefits us all.
Tips
You can take photos either with your smart phone or a fancy camera. As long as they are clear and crisp, they'll be perfect. Look at how wonderfully sharp the below photograph of Centella Asiatica is by @vannour on HIVE. Try searching for 'how to take better photographs on my smart phone' if you're new to the photography game.
We suggest a minimum pixel size of 800 x 500 and that you don't exceed 1500 x 1000.
Have fun and happy snapping!
