The truth is that I have no idea about the fruit, but here in Venezuela there is a very similar one, we call it ''Jobo''. It can be eaten green and its flavor is bitter like the green mango, but when it ripens it tastes a little sweeter. I don't know if we are talking about the same fruit (I don't think so) but just to name a similar one.

Hi, thanks for stopping by. I think it's a different fruit. Matoa is a sweet juicy fruit, with a chewy flesh. if it's the same fruit, i think in my country it's called by the name "Kedondong" it has prickly seeds. and yes, it is delicious when eaten green but it is even better when made into sweets.
