Always seek advice from your doctor or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have about a medical condition. Kambo is a medicine derived from frog secretion, and for many native cultures in the Amazon, this purifying, immunity-enhancing medicine is very important. Also called the "vaccine of the forest", it gained notoriety outside the Amazon as a powerful tool for treating chronic pain, drug dependence and depression.

Italian scientist Vittorio Erspamer of the University of Rome was the first person to analyze Kambo in a laboratory. In 1986, he wrote that it contained "a fantastic chemical cocktail with potential medical applications incomparable to other amphibians." Studies conducted since the 1980s have shown that the chemical composition of Kambo contains short chains of amino acids known as peptides, which affect gastrointestinal muscles and blood circulation, as well as stimulate the adrenal gland and pituitary gland in the brain. The properties of Kambo peptides suggest that this can be a promising treatment for the following conditions:

– Depression
– Migraine
– Circulatory problems
– Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease
– Vascular insufficiency
– Organ diseases
– Cancer
– Fertility problems
– Deep-rooted toxins
– Chronic pain
– Addiction to opioids or painkillers
– Fever and infections
– Negative energies (traditionally known as 'panema')

MEDICATIONS:
Be sure to report any medications or herbal supplements you use. Do not take any supplements or medications, unless this is necessary on the day of the ceremony. Some herbs or medicines may need to be avoided for a few days before treatment. Some drugs are contraindicated and may have a risk of interactions with Kambo.

SUPPLEMENTS:
Avoid supplements on the day of treatment with Kambo. Do not take any medication the day before the Kambo session unless absolutely necessary. You can resume your regular medication intake after the session. Avoid 5HTP, weight loss pills and melatonin supplements for 3 days before your session.

FOOD AND WATER:
It's nice to starve at least eight hours before the Kambo ceremony. If your session is in the morning, you should not have breakfast, drink coffee, caffeine or tea. If the ceremony is in the evening, eat only a light vegetarian breakfast (can eggs), without food after 10 am. Water, coconut water, herbal tea with honey, electrolytes and salt added to the water, you can take. Do not drink excessive amounts of water before arriving at your session. Before applying Kambo treatment, you will be asked to drink approximately 2 liters of water to ensure easy cleansing. Drinking too much water more than 15 minutes before kambo is administered can dilute electrolyte concentrations in the body and cause a serious condition called hyponatremia. Hydrate normally throughout the day, but do not drink much.

DIET:
Days before and after Kambo, avoid alcohol, dairy, sugar and spicy food. Salt is useful. Eat nourishing organic food before and after to best assist your body in the detoxification process afterwards. There is no traditional "diet" with Kambo and it is not crucial to observe a strict diet before or after the session.

WHAT TO BRING:
– 2 litres of filtered water at room temperature, neutral pH. Please do not carry alkaline or distilled water.
– Comfortable clothing that allows open access to the treatment area (cross, shoulder, neck, etc.). It is recommended to change clothes. Accidents really happen, and it's nice to have clean clothes to change into.

EFFECT:
Depending on the state of your health and how many sessions you and Kambo have had, you may experience different consequences. Many people will experience increased energy, elevated mood, reduced stress and decreased pain, as well as increased endurance. However, you may not feel well immediately. You may feel faint after the first few treatments. Often times this can be attributed to the effect of a herkseimer or symptoms of "receding". Kambo is highly antimicrobial and has a massive antibiotic effect on organisms in the body. While organisms die, they open and secrete a number of toxic substances, which the body must filter and detoxify. This can cause feelings of lethargy, depression, pain, insomnia and intestinal irritation. This is a very common reaction and is a good sign that Kambo works and throws out toxins. This effect usually becomes shorter and shorter each time and usually passes after multiple treatments.

It is not uncommon to feel disoriented or overwhelmed by certain aspects of life after your session. You may be highly sensitive or emotions may surface. You may receive vocal and clear messages about how certain toxic relationships, jobs, behaviors, or people don't serve you. Be sure to nourish your body with healthy food and rest. Ideally, you don't have to plan anything important right after your session to have enough time to recover and integrate your experience. Avoid alcohol, heavy food, stress and tension. Your body will work hard to detoxify, so do your best not to burden it with additional toxins or stress. Leave time to rest.
