GASP OH NOES YOU'VE LOST YOUR PASSION.
this seems to have been a common accusation levelled at older people by younger ones, usually in angry screeching so that the younger ones don't have to listen to the "pathetic excuses" the older ones are patiently making about life experiences and other irrelevant nonsense XD
While there is always merit to starting from scratch (have done that on enough projects more than enough times x_x) as far as systems of the world go (good book by Neal Stephenson by the way if you like that kind of thing), I really, really, REALLY don't like the idea of starting from scratch as the bit in between collapsing old system and starting new one tends to be way too bloody, violent and way way way too error prone (and usually almost definitely the end result will be exactly the same nonsense with different people at the top suffering the delusions that somehow they can do exactly trhe same idiocy without the same problems).
I'd much rather we collectively tai chi our way through :)
If we were really to start from scratch, I may be more optimistic. It's just that we have millennia of baggage that don't just go away because we scrap what we are doing and try the opposite. Angry people also don't tend to think clearly and I see way too much anger in the world.
More encouraging experimentation would be nice though! I'm not that old yet!
Experiments are great, how else are we going to figure out what might work :D
