Many thanks for the tips there! I tried to wait till they were soft before using them. The problem was the way they all ripened at different speeds. So I had to make around 10 different batches over the course of a month, always adding to the previous. Which was not convenient at all.

My biggest battle here is keeping them short! Not sure why but each subject seems to expand outward during the writing process. They are always so simple in my head, and yet...
