[ENG] How to know if honey is not adulterated

in Natural Medicine2 years ago

Honey is something extraordinary, I would say a treasure of Nature. Although I no longer consume honey years ago, because I have understood that the wonderful bees work hard to produce it, I do raise bees. Breeding is not the right term, but I do take care of them and try to provide them with water and food, that is, I plant flowers and honey plants, although not in the amount I would like, because I still do not have a constant supply of water. You can learn about my relationship with bees in the following post, which in turn contains links to previous posts where I also talk about them:

A few days ago someone gave me a bottle of honey, a gesture that I appreciated very much, because it is an expensive product in my country, so I received it with pleasure. I know well that honey has many nutritional and therapeutic properties, talking about it would require not one, but many posts, however, below I will point out some of its benefits for human health. If you want more information regarding honey and its properties, at the end I share some links that may be useful to you:

  • Contains vitamins, minerals, natural sugars and antioxidants, which are essential for good nutrition and general well-being.

  • Its high content of antioxidants (flavonoids, phenols, enzymes and organic acids) reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, as it helps to dilate the arteries, inhibits the formation of blood clots.

  • Reduces the levels of "bad" cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood.

  • It is a recommended sweetener for diabetics, because it regulates blood sugar levels.

  • It is very flattering for the skin, as it can help heal wounds, while making it look more radiant. It is also highly recommended in the treatment of acne.

  • It is ideal for treating respiratory system conditions, as it reduces coughing, and has antibiotic properties.

  • Helps fight insomnia.

  • It is ideal for proper brain function.

  • Helps reduce allergies.

  • Strengthens the immune system, among many other benefits.

As you can see, honey is extraordinary; however, I believe that in many parts of the world, there are unscrupulous people who adulterate honey and sell it as pure, cheating those who trust in good faith in the quality of the product; and in this sense, I must point out that I have always heard that there are many tests, supposedly infallible, to prove the integrity or quality of honey. From dipping a match with honey and lighting it, to freezing the honey, everyone says that they are infallible tests, but I think that the most accurate of all is the one that I share with you today, you will see why.

A few days ago my husband was reviewing some videos on Tiktok, and he showed me a person who shared this proof and explained why it was reliable. I'll be frank, I don't remember the name of the account, since I don't have an account on that social network and I don't pay much attention to it. I will explain to you what the test consists of:

  • A small amount of honey is placed in the center of a plate.

  • Add a little water on top.

  • We proceed to turn the plate, so that the honey and water mix with the movement.

  • It is observed if replicas of the cells of the honeycomb are formed in these liquids, that is, hexagonal shapes are generated, and according to the video, this happens because honey has a molecular memory, which allows it to leave this energetic imprint with the help of water.

Taking advantage of the honey that they gave me, I decided to replicate this test, because it seemed to me that it made a lot of sense, what's more, in the video, the person compared adulterated honey with pure honey, and the difference was evident.

Trying to copy the test as best as possible, I looked for a white plate, since that was the color that appeared in the video, as well as a teaspoon and water. I tried several times, about five or six times, to verify the formation of the cells, but it was very difficult to visualize and even more difficult to photograph or film.

Then my husband told me that the honey we had was much clearer than the one in the video, that we should look for a plate of another color, to see if it could be seen better, and I did so. I looked for a blue plate and did the test again, and there it was evident that the small cells were formed in the plate, thus demonstrating the purity of the honey, for which I share a small gif where this can be seen with more clarity.

Here I end my post today, with some information that I hope will be useful to you, in case you want to test the purity of that wonderful food such as honey. Greetings.

Here I end my post today, in which I wanted to share my observations about two insects from the same category, which are potentially harmful. Greetings.
