Lemon brings us many health benefits, as it is rich in vitamin C, calcium and iron. We have seen and heard so many different things and health benefits from lemons. From weight loss, skin lightener, teeth whitener. The list goes on and on. But have you ever asked yourself if al of this is really working?

I've been a guinea pig for most of these and some I did a bit of my own research on. I'm going to cover the most popular myths and facts about lemons that I can think of. If I miss something please let me know.

That's a fact. Lemon is rich in Vitamin C, which supports the immune system with its antioxidant properties. Vitamin C is necessary for the proper functioning of white blood cells, which is responsible for the elimination of invading microorganisms.

That is why lemon helps prevent some diseases and infections like the common cold and flu. It assist in the good functioning of the immune system. Lemon can also be a great booster for people who play sports.

Lemon Balance The PH Of The Blood

Yes, although lemon is an acid, it becomes alkaline when processed by the body. This happens because the fruit contains citric acid and ascorbic acid, which are easily metabolised and helps improve alkaline levels in the body.

This means that lemon water can really de-acidify the body and prevent pain and infections, as well as general body imbalance. This is also one of the reasons why lemon helps in weight loss.

Lemon Boost Your Metabolism

Many people believe that lemon helps you to lose weight because it boosts the metabolism process. This is a myth, because lemons do not have any thermogenic effects. If you drink lemon water and want to boost your metabolism, add some caloric ingredients like ginger and cinnamon.

Drinking Lemon Water Causes Weight Loss

I'm sorry to tell you, that this is a myth. Lemons can help in weight loss because it is low in calories and has a diet, Antioxidant effects and keeps the body balanced, clean and alkalised. But lemon alone does little to lose weight.

There is no point in drinking lemon water every day fasting or not. If you end up consuming more calories than you burn. Lemon can help, but you will not lose weight unless you maintain a balanced diet.

This is a myth. Lemons are sour, but their pH becomes alkaline after entering the body. According to experts, in some cases it can be helpful for stomach ailments.

Lemon Helps Digestion

True, lemon helps in the elimination of toxins and the production of bile by the liver, which is necessary for the process digestion. It is rich in vitamins and minerals that helps in getting rid of toxins that's in the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestine).

The digestive properties of lemon, relieve symptoms of indigestion such as heartburn and belching flatulence.
