Hi dear friends, today I have a Khmer dessert recipe. It's Num Ansom Chek. This dessert smells very good and so delicious.
The people in my country make it and sell near the street and in the market also. This is first time I made them to eat in Suriname.
👩🍳 Grilled Sticky Banana Rice Cake (Ital) Recipe 🔪
វិធីធ្វើនំអន្សមចេកអាំង
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sticky rice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsps brown sugar or taste
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup coconut meat
- 1/2 cup water
- sweet bananas
- banana leaves for wrapping
- coconut leaves - take hard part of coconut leaves and cut short to close banana leaves, or you can use what you have, maybe toothpick or something.
Soak sticky rice in the water 2-3 hours, after wash it three times.
Heat a pan, put coconut milk, salt, sugar, stir it, then put sticky rice, stir it until looks like no water. Put coconut meat, fry it a little it’s ready.
This dessert some people not use coconut meat, so do as you like.
Cut banana leaves and put sticky rice on the banana and do like that, then put sweet banana on sticky rice.
Then close banana leaf like this and wrap the banana leaves, take coconut sticks to close.
These are all ready, I grilled them before.
Grill them on wood fire is more delicious, nice and tasty, but I not have it.
So I grilled them on the gas stove and open very small flame, and we need to watch them a lot.
I like to eat this dessert a lot when I lived in my country. I remember when I was young my grandma made these for sell.
I help her cut banana leaves, clean and peel bananas, and sometimes I help her stir sticky rice also. But I just help stir sticky rice short time because it’s a big pot and very hard to stir it until finished. Have a nice day.
I was impressed by this recipe, because it is made with great detail and you can tell that it is very tasty. In Venezuela we have a similar preparation, which is called Cafunga, and it is typical of the Miranda state, on the coast of my country; But it is made with mashed ripe banana, grated coconut and wheat flour are added, and they are also wrapped in leaves; they are generally baked, not grilled. It is impressive how rice is the protagonist along with banana and coconut in this recipe. I was struck by the fact that there is no additional sweet. Very good and detailed recipe. A great greeting.
