Also known as beggar's tick, beggar-ticks, hairy beggar-ticks, black-jack, broom stick, broom stuff, cobbler's pegs, devil's needles, hairy bidens, Spanish needle, farmers friend, Devils Pitchfork.
It is considered a weed, it can spread easily. You have probably seen it in some corner of the street, wasteland or in the vegetable garden. The picão has characteristics of a dengosa plant, just touch it that already sticks to you lol. Joking aside, what the picão does is use a very intelligent dispersion strategy.
With his hooks he can fix anything that touches it, thus allowing the seeds to reach the places where new generations can form.

This plant has a long history of medicinal use among the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. It is used for fever, hypertension, worms, and urine infection. It has anti inflammatory action, is a plant rich in antioxidants and vitamin E. It has diuretic properties, prevents fluid retention that can cause swelling.
The used part of the plant is everything, leaves, branches and roots well washed. In the country of Peru there are reports of indigenous people who use the leaves for toothache. There are several uses, it is a powerful plant.

É considerada uma erva daninha, consegue se espalhar facilmente. Provavelmente você já viu em algum cantinho da rua, terreno baldio ou na horta. O picão tem características de uma planta dengosa, é só encostar que já gruda em você rs. Brincadeira à parte, o que o picão faz é utilizar de uma estratégia muito inteligente de dispersão.
Com seus ganchinhos consegue fixar em qualquer coisa que encosta nela, dessa forma possibilita que as sementes alcancem os locais onde novas gerações poderão se formar.
Uma vez maduras, as sementes precisam deixar a planta-mãe e serem disseminadas de modo eficiente para garantir a sobrevivência da espécie, evitando que haja acúmulo de descendentes em pequenas áreas (competição).
A natureza é perfeita! E hoje eu quero falar dessa planta resiliente, poderosa que geralmente é considerada um mato, invasor de quintais que tem um POTENCIAL MEDICINAL incrível.
O picão faz parte do mundo das Panc's (plantas alimentícias não convencionais que consumimos menos por falta de costume ou conhecimento). Elas possuem desenvolvimento espontâneo e são facilmente encontradas por aí, tudo quanto é lugar.
Esta planta possui uma longa história de uso medicinal entre os povos indígenas da Amazônia. É utilizada para febre, hipertensão, verminose, e infecção de urina. Tem ação anti inflamatória, é uma planta rica em antioxidantes e vitamina E. Possui propriedades diuréticas, previne a retenção de líquidos que podem causar inchaço.
A parte utilizada da planta é tudo, folhas, galhos e raízes bem lavadas. No país do Peru há relatos de indígenas que utilizam as folhas para dor de dente. São diversos usos, é uma planta poderosa.
Para usar o picão como qualquer outra planta precisa de bom senso, comunicar com a necessidade do seu corpo, ouvindo a potencialidade da planta.
