What season is it in your place? In Indonesia, it's already the rainy season. So, every day, there are almost always hours where it rains. With that, we have to start being vigilant with our immune system that might drop due to the changing weather.

Fortunately, since childhood, our family has been very familiar with herbs that are good to help maintain immunity. I remember briefly about my childhood. At first, my mum used to introduce me to betel leaves that were soaked in hot water for a while and then drunk. Although it is very simple, the benefits of betel leaves are very many. According to my mother, betel leaf juice is good for reducing bad breath and good for the female body. Most importantly, the function of betel leaves is to reduce body odour, so, until now I don't need to use deodorant because my sweat doesn't smell.

However, what I'm going to write about this time is not about siri leaves, but another herbal concoction; WEDHANG RIMPANG


WEDHANG RIMPANG FOR IMMUNE SYSTEM


Surely you already know how beneficial ginger is? Many herbal drinks always include ginger. The same goes for the wedhang rimpang I'm about to discuss. Wedhang means drink, rhizome is rhizooma. So, this is an herbal drink made from a mixture of rhizomes and other ingredients.

This time, the rhizome I used was ginger, while the other additional ingredients were lime and lemongrass stems.
Ingredients:

  • One ginger segment
  • Two medium lemongrass stalks
  • One slice of lime
  • boiling water

How to make:

  1. Firstly, you grate the ginger, then burn it until it gives off a fragrant aroma,

  1. Put all the ingredients (jade lemongrass, and lime) into a serving glass.

  1. Boil water, after boiling, pour it into the glass that already contains herbs,

It's very simple, isn't it? But this is very good to help maintain our body's immunity, can suppress cholesterol levels, good for the heart, good for digestion.

How's that? Isn't nature very special with all the things that are available. Finally, this afternoon I enjoyed this wedhang rimpang. This recipe can be changed, for example if you want to replace it with galangal or turmeric? You can. Or do you want to add all the ingredients in one glass, plus cinnamon? It's totally possible.
