Say cheese, shill me something so reach in calcium, protein, vitamins A & B12. Cheese is a rich source of food.
Commonly found within the fulanis community, there is no doubt every tribe has their own unique culture and beliefs and as such the way of dressing, food, occupations differs from one culture to another.
Cheese locally called wara is made from cow break milk. Eew, cow breats? The breakfeeding cow especially, the milk in the breast is extracted as much as possible. This milk extracted is then put in pot to be cooked thoroughly and cook together with well blended stem of apple of sodom leaf also known as (ewe bombom).
The apple of sodom tree is used as the coagulant, making the milk to solidifies. And come together.
It also allows the milk to curdle into curds, by this time we're having the cheese
The get the shape of the cheese, after the milk had formed the curds, there is a little basket shaped cups and start pouring the curds in them, this is how it takes the shape of the contraction, and after about 2 minutes thereabout, it is ready for consumption or for sale.
The water in containers as seen in the pictures above are the water taken from the curds of milk and it serves as a preservative to the cheese.
The thing is while it might not be too easy to make, this fulani people has made it there own way of life, and its because the rear cows so it easy to extract the milk from the cow, and it is advisable to cook the cheese very well when one wants to eat.
I must say The cheese is so tasty and delicious. While it is cooked as food at homes, it can also be taken as a street snacks.
It must be very good, I like that kind of cheese.
Its really is, good yummy and nutritious, wish you'd have a taste.

This is such a beautiful and informative post, thank you so much for sharing, @vickink ! The process and appearance make me think of local ricotta cheese, which is still made in a very basic, Natural way, here in rural South Italy, in the mountains. :-) Blessings!
Oh wow, i will be looking forward to knowing more about the local riccota cheese, stay safe dear.
This looks very similar to paneer in India, a simple cheese made from milk and lime/lemon juice. Homemade is always more delicious than store-bought. Thanks for sharing.
