Bunga nusa indah adalah tanaman bergenus Mussaenda yang katanya berasal dari Afrika Barat. Sejak dewasa ini, saya baru pertama melihatnya, padahal bunga ini sudah sejak lama di manfaatkan oleh Nenek Kakek kita. Seperti kata Nenek saya, bunga ini sangat bermanfaat salah satunya adalah sebagai obat bisul, kenapa saya katakan seperti itu, diwaktu saya kecil dan bisulan, beliau selalu memetik bungan Nusa Indah ini sebagai obat bisul saya.
Berdasarkan penelitian Kar DM, et al., (2014), tanaman Nusa Indah disebut sebagai Nagavalli, secara tradisional daunnya dimanfaatkan sebagai obat antiinflamasi, bisul, demam, kusta dan asma. Berdasarkan penelitian yang telah dilakukan oleh penelitian sebelumnya, akar bunga nusa indah memiliki kandungan senyawa golongan flavonoid, saponin, steroid dan fenolik.
