I have one question. Let's say you have a product that has two versions of it. Each version has a website of its own. There exist links between the sites. Is this detrimental to the total visibility of the entire product in Google searches?

If I have two versions of the same product, I will first keep them on the same website. Because I believe your niche is the same for both versions.
Though it's not going to affect the search result if the products are different. Actually, it depends on a lot of aspects.
But if you upload the same product (same photo, same description) on separate websites, Google may count the second one as plagiarized content.
