RE: Looks Like HCR is Back on the Table

"There is a better solution."

In 1974 the US had the best health care system in the world. Then Congress mandated employers provide health insurance to their employees, and ever since then health care has become more expensive and worse in quality in the US. Back then you could see a doctor who could agree to trade his services for a couple chickens, or a pig, or for nothing at all. Today the insurance companies that pay the vast majority of doctors' salaries won't tolerate such nonsense for a minute.

The way to solve the health care crisis is to stop 'improving' it, and restore the free market that put cash, chickens, and employer subsidies all in competition, enabling doctors to be dedicated to the good health of their communities rather than the financial health of insurance companies.

Thanks!

Your observation is correct. The US had great health care. We broke the system by piecemeal adding government programs to enhance the care.

BTW: Employer based care is a horrible system.

It only covers people when they are employed. Employer based care depends on having a socialized system like Medicare to step in when people retire.

The easiest way out of this trap is to provide an alternative to employer based health care.

The market cannot create such a system because of government regulations. Sadly, There has to be a political debate.

The solution I propose starts by analyzing health care from a whole life perspective. It then creates financial tools to help people fund a life time of care.
