This is my recipe for grilled sausage and cheese wholemeal wraps with two separate twists.

In some ways this was born out of invention. I often look in my fridge and try to come up with something inventive with the foods I have available. For me one of the worst sins in the world is food waste. When so many around the world don't have enough food to put on their plates for their families, the least I can do is ensure that all my food is used and none is wasted. I also donate to Concern charity regularly who do great work in many poverty stricken countries around the world.

Who am I?

Hello you tasty little food lovers from around the world! Let me quickly introduce myself as I have not posted in this community before. I'm @ablaze, a proud Irishman and Cryptocurrency enthusiast. I'm posting content daily for the past 3 weeks and I'm trying to keep that habit going.

Ok, now for my recipe.

Step 1

The first thing to do is open your fridge or cupboard and see what you have and let your imagination help. Your creation does not have to be the very same as mine. You could swap in bread for the wrap, mushrooms for the onions, tomato puree for the relish. You get the idea. Let me outline here the ingredients I used:

  • 2 wholemeal wraps
  • Ballymaloe Relish
  • Guacamole
  • 3 large sausages
  • Cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • Sun dried tomatoes

The recipe will feed 2 people or just 1 if you're hungry 😋

Step 2

The longest time here will be grilling your sausages and frying you onion. So start with these 2. I grill my sausages at 200 °C turning regularly until they turn that nice golden brown colour.

For the onions I use a small non stick pan and fry them at a low temperature so that they dont burn, again turning regularly.

Leave your sausages and onions cooking while you move onto the next step.

Step 3

Spread ballymaloe relish on one wrap and Guacamole on the other one.

Add the sundried tomatoes to the Guacamole one and the fried onions onto the relish one as below.

Step 4

By now your sausages are hopefully looking golden brown and waft of cooked sausages is hopefully wafting around your house.

Take the piping hot sausages and cut them in half taking care not to burn yourself. Now place the sausages on top of each wrap, 3 half sausages per wrap. Take your cheese now and grate it over the top of your wraps like the photo below.

Step 5

Take your wraps and carefully place them under your grill and this can be set to 200°C again. With approx 2 to 3 minutes the cheese should have melted nicely. Hopefully they will look something like this.

Step 6

Take out the wraps and fold them in half and toast them under the grill again on both sides to ensure they are nice and hot all the way through.

The last step is to grate a little bit of cheese on top and melt it onto the wraps.

Step 7

This is the most important step of all. Make a nice hot cup of tea or whatever drink you like. Cut the wraps in half and give half to each person, so both can taste each creation.

That looks and sounds rather tasty! This hillbilly has just one question...what in hell's name is Ballymaloe?
