Lowering the Fats

Hi all,

Here's an update on my food changes this week. Tonight I had salmon, brown basmati rice, and broccoli for dinner. This is a good example of a meal I am using to lower my fats from my previous high fat, high protein angle on food. Unfortunately it is a lower calorie meal, meaning I need to eat more calories elsewhere in the day, but the positives of this meal cannot be understated. The basmati is a good low GI carb packed with many minerals (and some B vitamins); it also offers a small amount of protein. The salmon offers protein, B vitamins, Omega-3, and various minerals. Finally, the broccoli provides a good hit of vitamins C & K.

I have noticed today (despite having high-fat butchers sausages for lunch) that my fat levels are exactly where I want them - right around the RDA (recommended daily amount). This is a stark difference from just days ago, where, because of the diet I had adopted, they were at 130-150% of the RDA. The problem I may have moving forward is my calorie intake (that is, it may not be high enough). This is the next thing I am going to wrestle with.

More updates to follow, Adam :)
