My favorite local dish

Greetings to everyone in this wonderful community, I'm glad I found a place I could talk about my local delicacies. I'm a foodie and one of my hubbies is cooking and eating I also like learning new dishes I guess that's why I stayed tuned to food channels. Never knew there is a platform on the hive where I can talk about food, searching through all the communities I came across foodies bee hive, and wow I am elated I must say.

It's my first article here I hope you like it, I am bdellium by name, a Nigerian in my 20s, a student, and also an entrepreneur. Being my first time here I will be discussing my favorite local dish, it is one of the best food in my tribe and it has been in existence for ages. This delicacy is also eaten by other tribes in my country but it is one of the best in my tribe.
This dish is called amala and ila also in my local language but I'm scared now to translate it into English because it might sound weird, In English, it will be translated as okra soup and cassava morsel this is the best English name I can come up with, I hope you understand.

I will like to share with us first the ingredients and then the preparation and the end product of it.

INGREDIENTS
Here are the ingredients for my favorite local dish. Below are the ingredients for the okra soup.

  1. Okra

  2. Palm oil

  3. Salt

  4. Maggie

  5. Pepper

  6. Beef

  7. Fish

  8. Locust bean

  9. Potash

  10. Water
    And now for the cassava morsel

    To some people, this food is complicated because it takes techniques, and if the rules aren't followed it might not turn out well.

Here is what okra looks like, I know many of us are familiar with it, it is a nutritious and healthy vegetable.

The very hot pepper in Nigeria but as hot as it is we can't do without it in our foods. It is popularly known as habanero

Here is what we know as red oil or palm oil it is made from palm kennel, and it is nutritious and it gives food that divine taste you can't resist.

These are the main ingredients while beef and fish are optional, water is a natural ingredient that is readily available with potash and seasoning as per wish.

For the morsel preparation cassava flour is the only main ingredient and it is also called starch in other tribes.

PREPARATION

Now I will teach us how this delicious dish is been prepared. Firstly the soup
Step1: dice the okra into smaller pieces with the use of a grater or a knife

Step 2: put little quantity of water as per the size of the okra, and add just a little amount of potash and locus bean as you so desire.

Step 3: add palm oil to the water, with beef or fish, then add a little amount of pepper.

Step 4: leave the water to boil at 100 degrees Celsius then add the diced okra and stir together to avoid lumps.

Step 5: After 5 minutes your delicious okra soup is ready to eat.

Now for the cassava flour morsel

Step1: place the desired amount of water in a pot, and allow it to boil at 100 degrees Celsius

Step2: gently add your cassava flour and continue stirring until it reaches desired thickness

Step3: place back on the fire, add little water, and allow to cook for 2 minutes

Step 4: stir together until it reaches the desired smoothness then serve with your okra soup.
