Meet Gerard: Sydney, AUSTRALIA

Another project combined with a family "holiday", and another chance to wander around and find some nice food before I have to head off to rehearsals.

Meet Gerard was a place where the rest of the musicians had eaten the day before, and they gave it a big thumbs up... and my kids and wife had walked past it as well and were keen to try it out...

... we had a slightly later start to our rehearsal day... and we were staying just down the road... so, we thought that this might be a nice place to sit down and have a bit of a breakfast before work and sightseeing!

The Space

There is limited seating in the cafe and along the sidewalk... everything in summer is opened up, the large windows are open to the outside like most cafes in Sydney. Definitely need that open air breeze coming in... especially if you are running a kitchen on the inside.

... and despite the fact that you are sitting on quite a busy sidewalk and road... well, you do have a bit of greenery to look to on the other side. A nice little park where I have sometimes just taken a takeaway lunch to sit down and have a bit of quiet time.

The Menu

An all day brunch and a small lunch menu are on offer here... lots of really enticing things, both my wife and I had a hard time choosing something... and I really don't like having a heavy breakfast either... there was a time, but I'm getting older and generally a cooked greasy breakfast is going to play havoc with me now!

Lots of great things on the drink menu as well... I was torn between having my regular morning coffee or something a little bit more interesting and cooler... but in the end, I didn't want to have a caffeine withdrawal headache to start the day! Besides, I could always just try out whatever my kids ordered!

... and the specials menu... hmmm, I was really tempted by these... but again, too heavy for the start of the day.

The Food

My oldest daughter ordered the "best chicken sandwich"... well, big call... and two colleauges ordered it the day before and loved it! It was pretty good, but I'm not sure that it was THE best...

... and my daughter only managed half. She is at that awkward stage where she wants to eat from the adult menu... but the servings are too big. Well, they are also too big for me and my wife as well.... and sometimes we get around it by sharing plates... two between three.

I got French toast... with lots of fruits and toasted oats.... and my first time having maple syrup with bacon. Hmmmm... sort of good, but I'm not convinced.

Meanwhile, my wife got the Milk and Honey... a nice mix of toasted muesli with fruits and PANNA COTTA! Seriously, and she doesn't let me have ice-cream in a breakfast smoothie... dessert for breakfast?

... but it was awesome! I was also eyeing this one off, but she ordered first.

... and my little one wanted hash browns! Well, I'm pretty sure that I would have done the same when I was little! And they were great as well!

A Berry smoothie with chia seeds for my oldest... yum!

... and a KitKat milkshake for my little one... it was good, but too much cream and sweetness for my taste!

... and some damn fine coffee!

The Experience

Meet Gerard can get quite busy and it quickly runs out of seats in the peak time.. but for good reason, the food is great and the service is quick and friendly as well. Definitely worth it to come by... and I think my kids dropped by again later in the day to try out the Strawberry Matcha drink that they had on offer as well...

... so, a keeper, and one more to add to the list of places to eat at when I'm rehearsing in this area!

The amount of sugar makes me shiver😂😂😂

I have a big question in mind about what it’s like to live in Australia—what benefits employees receive and what kinds of jobs are available there. 😊 I also have no idea about Australian culture, how they raise their children, and what kind of personalities people generally have there. I'm considering going there if it's God's will.

Sorry, I'm the wrong person to judge that! I'm a freelance self-employed musician, and so I sort of don't really work normal jobs and have no idea how they work!
