Magandang Buhay Hive Foodies!!

Hectic is the best description of my daily activity this week, from checking of answer sheets and retrieving of students module I also have to do house chores which I am so exhausted. But I have to remind myself that I am a mom and I have to have power to juggle everything though my hands are full. My favorite part of my everyday routine would be seeing my kids enjoy their food. So even how tired I am I'd still choose to cook.

Anyways I just wanna share a recipe which my daughter loves so much. This is called Pork Sisig,it is a popular Filipino dish. It can be considered as a main dish or an appetizer. The composition of this dish is mainly of pig’s parts such as minced pork meat, ears, and face. But in my case I just bought minced pork meat. The most important thing to remember is to marinate the pork in advance to have that more tasty sisig.

Pre marinating steps

  • boil the pork belly until tender. I chop the meat into small pieces, you can grill the meat if you want but in my case I can' t grill so I just marinated it using Calamansi, salt, crushed onion and soy sauce.

Ingredients

1 lb pork belly
1 piece onion minced
3 tablespoons soy sauce/ oyster sauce
1 knob ginger minced (optional)
3 tablespoons chili flakes/ sliced chili
1 piece lemon or 3 to 5 pieces calamansi
½ cup butter or margarine
6 cups water
1 piece egg (optional)

Instructions

  • In a wide pan, melt the butter or margarine. Add the onions and garlic. Cook until onions are soft. Saute until cooked.

  • Add the chopped pork belly. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes. Put-in the soy sauce or oyster sauce and chili. Mix well.

  • Serve hot. Share and Enjoy (add the lemon or calamansi before eating)

Sisig is actually also very famous as pulotan in the Philippines. This is a great pair with cold beer or any alcoholic drink. This is always present in most drinking sessions. But because of its delicious taste people have it as a viand. I hope you enjoyed my simple recipe and maybe try it at home. See you again for another simple cooking from a working mom like me.. And always cook with love, my kids loves this and I think you will too..

See you again for another cooking adventures at home!!
