Good morning beautiful people of Hive. How are you Friday so far? I hope that you have a great start to your day. Today, I am gonna share to with you what we had last night for our dinner. My partner requested boiled beef with veggies but then by the time I went to the meat shop the only beef cut available is ground beef so I just decided to cook some "gaining Nga Baka" or ground beef with diced carrots and potatoes.
Giniling is a famous dish in the Philippines and every cafeteria has this dish on its menu this food has been my favorite growing up. I remembered back in college we have this food store near Cebu Coliseum which serves the best giniling as far as I've remembered. So now I tried to copy the taste of the giniling but then I am having a hard time doing so I'll just stick to what I know and hopefully, it will also be delicious.
Let's start with preparing your ingredients such as ground beef, diced carrots, and potatoes and for the aromatics, you need to have your sliced garlic and onion. I also used cooking oil, salt and black pepper, oyster sauce, soy sauce, and ketchup.
Then prepare your pan with some heated cooking oil with it and saute your garlic and onion. Wait until it becomes cooked and you can tell that it is once you already smell its aroma.
Then put your ground beef then flavor it with salt and pepper and cover it until half cooked. It will only take 3 to 4 minutes to half-cook ground pork. Salt also helps in letting some moisture come out from the beef.
You can now add your carrots and potatoes and cover them and let them simmer for a while. Once cooked you can now add your soy sauce, oyster sauce, and some ketchup. You can also add salt if you feel that it is needed.
That is it guys, I can tell that Filipino beef giniling with carrots and potatoes is a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for any occasion. The beef is slow-cooked until it is tender and flavorful, while the carrots and potatoes add a touch of sweetness and texture to the dish. The combination of flavors and textures makes this dish a true masterpiece, and it is sure to become a family favorite. Whether you serve it with rice, noodles, or on its own, this dish is sure to satisfy your cravings and leave you wanting more.
