I've never thought about using a salad dressing as a marinade at all before, so this is new to me, and I would guess most South Africans. It makes sense though, having vinegar, herbs and all sorts of goodies in there already.
Yeah, the vinegar and oil really helps break down the meat. Add a little bit of citrus and it keeps it really tender.
