Granola: Benefits & How to Make It

Granola is a food mixture made up of nuts, oat flakes sweetened with honey, paper or muscovado sugar, and other natural ingredients. The mixture is baked until crisp. During the cooking process, the mixture is stirred a little to maintain the loose consistency typical of cereals eaten for breakfast. Sometimes dried fruits are added, especially raisins, blueberries, or bananas (these are my personal preferences)

Besides being an excellent balanced breakfast and snack, granola is often eaten when hiking or camping, because it is light food, highly energetic, and easy to store; similar to a bag of dried fruit.

Recipe to prepare the most delicious homemade Granola:

Ingredients:

2 cups (165 grams) rolled oats
1 cup (125 grams) of assorted nuts and seeds, unroasted
3/4 teaspoon sea salt
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons of honey
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla (I used in paste)
1/2 cup (55 grams) dried fruit
1/4 cup (20 grams) coconut flakes (optional)

preparation:

Preheat the oven to 325 ° F.
On a shallow baking sheet, place the oats, nuts and seeds, salt, cinnamon, and stir. Add the honey, oil, and vanilla and mix to infuse the dry ingredients.
Take it to the oven and remove it every 15 minutes and move the granola with a wooden paddle to ensure even baking and no clumps. Add the coconut after the first 15 minutes so it doesn't brown too much. You can leave the granola in the oven for a little longer than 30 minutes depending on how toasty you want it.

homemade granola is always special

Notes:
For the mixture of nuts and seeds, you can use almonds, walnuts, pecans, sesame seeds, pumpkin, pistachios, whatever you like the most! If they are toasted, add them towards the end of cooking so that they do not burn, also with the raisins, otherwise, they will be excessively hard.
With dehydrated fruits you also have a lot of variety: it is common to add raisins, but you can also add dried cranberries, pineapple, apricot, or bananas (my favorites).
