This is a complete overhaul on what was on our plates during Christmas. Traditional Finnish stuff mostly.
Starting the day we had rice porridge. Milk and porridge rice. Really simple. Can be enjoyed with plum-raisin soup, though I prefer it with chinnamon-sugar.
Plum-raisin soup is a great dessert with whipped cream.
Bread with pickled raw salmon. Can be enjoyed with potatoes, too. One of my favorites.
Then the main thing: ham, with a mustard veil and breadcrumbs.
Here on my plate I have ham, mushroom salad, casseroles of different kinds: swede, sweet potatoe (my personal favorite) and potato. Then we have mustard herring. For me herring has to be served with a creamy sauce to be good. Plain herring I don't like.
Another plate, with beetroot goat cheese casserole which was missing from the previous – this was a new addition and a very worthy one. For some reason we Finns love casseroles which consist the bulk of Christmas foods. We didn't even buy all of them, just those we like the best.
Left over ham will be enjoyed with potatoes and sauce that was made using the liquid that was extracted while the ham was in the oven.
A cheese collection to enjoy with crispbread.
Some gingerbread, of course. I heard that gingerbread with blue cheese is a thing. I tried first time and it's an interesting blend of sweet, spicy and creamy salty. Took a couple tries to make sense of it, but I started liking it.
Adding to the collection of desserts: cheesecake, made by @rrusina. Best enjoyed after a night in the fridge. Yum.
Joulutorttu (Christmas tart). Puff paste straight from freezer shaped into star with a pat of plum marmalade. Too big of a pat and it starts to look like another kind of tart. Happened to me once. I just really like the plum marmalade.
Then of course, chocolate. No Christmas without it.
For drinks we had some alcohol free glögi (mulled wine) which we got as a gift. Best served hot. This is a quality one as it's made using actual red wine. Most of the cheap market stuff is just grape juice with spice.
Some christmasy spiced tea.
For some reason clementines are always abundant in Christmas, it's probably harvest time at winter, because their cheap too.

Interesting seeing your traditional foods. I wouldn't say my American Christmas fare was drastically different, but definitely a bit different. Gingerbread with blue cheese - I'm intrigued:)

Yes, typically. I go to my parent's house for Christmas, so my mom is in charge of such things. She made a pork loin this year, which was a break in tradition. I am going to have to give that blue cheese and gingerbread a try:)

Jutta doesn't like rye bread so we mostly eat white :P
