Last week, I wanted to go to the mall to check out some toys that I can give as gift to my students since I was not able to do my Christmas shopping last December due to the typhoon. I was accompanied by my boyfriend who also wanted to check some clothes. We had a hard time finding a parking space because the mall was packed! I guess it’s cause most places still don’t have electricity (due to the typhoon) and people want to get out and find a place to cool down or chill.
It was pretty timing when I got a message from my bestfriend saying she’s about to do some errands in the same mall that I wanted to go. And after a few minutes I got another message from my other bestfriend saying she’s also there with her highschool friends. I was so excited to see them because we weren’t able to catch up and meet during the Holiday-slash-TyphoonOdette break. But before I came to meet them, we dropped by the toy store first and boyy! 😵 Long lines at the cashier and the toys were quite expensive in that shop. I went to a Japanese store but their toys were mostly sold out. Sooo, I guess the mall was full because it’s the kids doing their shopping spree. Ahaha I wasn’t able to buy anything and promised myself to do it some other time. 😪
I hurriedly went to where my bestfriends were, had a few minutes of “chika” (chitchatting) with them and said our goodbyes and see you soon!
When my boyfriend was done doing his shopping, we decided to go to his go-to-café to have some drinks and coincidentally, one of his close friends arrived! So I texted my bestfriend and we invited her and her boyfriend to join us for dinner. There were 8 of us who planned to have dinner together. One of our friends were craving for Korean samgyupsal but unfortunately, we went to 5 different restaurants and all of them were either full or were on the last order. We thought its going to be difficult to find a table that will fit all 8 of us so we decided to just separate and have the group dinner next time. 😕
We ended up going to 88th Avenue in Banilad which is like a strip mall with my bestfriend and her boyfriend. Pretty spontaneous night!
We decided to go with Belle’s suggestion to go to the Weekend restaurant . The restaurant looked fancy and had a nice cocktail bar inside. They have quite a big following on their social media accounts and has an average of 4.5/5 star rating.
It was the first time that we did a double date. We planned it a long time ago but it never happened cause our schedules don’t match. We were saying that maybe its better not to plan anything and just out of the blue invite each other cause its most likely to happen. LOL
We were greeted by their awesome and friendly staff! When I looked at their menu, being a cheap ass, I was hesitant to eat there because it was kind of pricey for me. But since we rarely do this, I guess I can't say no to these 3 food enthusiasts I'm with. Hahah
Here’s their menu (source:https://www.facebook.com/TheWeekendPh/menu)
My boyfriend ordered the starters Faux Gras , Divine Duck and Oh Caesar! and for our main course, we all had Fat Bastard . Their steak was gigantic compared to the other restaurants that I went to with almost the same price. We had a fancy and delicious meal and I was happy that we went there. It was a good choice!
Their cocktail drinks served in huge glasses looked very pretty! You can have it with or without liquor. I ordered Isn't she lovely? the purple colored drink while Belle ordered Botanika .
Ever since I got together with my boyfriend, his love for food helped me explore other cuisines as well. I’ve always been kind of stuck with Asian food, the type who orders the same familiar dishes. Haha If ever you’re around Cebu, I would recommend that you try out this restaurant. I only blog about the good ones. 😉
I rarely go to expensive restaurants because I sometimes feel guilty. I know in myself that I cannot afford it cause I have other responsibilities way important than a bill at a restaurant. I also feel guilty if I eat somewhere nice knowing my parents haven’t been there or that I’m not eating there with them. I don’t know how I developed this kind of mentality. My friends keep telling me that I work hard enough and I deserve to spoil myself once in a while. I have to start practicing how to think that way.
Anyways, after dinner, we promised to have another date again, hopefully a triple date once my other bestfriend finds her LOML (love of my life). Haha I guess that’s all for this spontaneous night with our friends! Cheers! 🍹
