Sunshine and smiles Hivers! In this blog post, I’ll show you how to make a creamy carbonara. The ingredients in my creamy carbonara are easily find in your kitchen or at a local store and are quite affordable. I decided to make this carbonara because I am craving, and it's quite costly to buy outside, with just one serving costing over 100+ pesos. Let’s dive in!
INGREDIENTS
- All purpose cream
- Cheese
- Onion
- Garlic
- Pepper
- Pasta (any kind)
- Mushrooms
- Mushroom soup powder (optional)
- Butter / margarine
- Sausage / ham
- Century tuna (or any kind of canned tuna)
Let's begin by filling a pot with water, adding a pinch of salt and a bit of oil to prevent the pasta from sticking and to enhance the flavor. Place it over medium heat and wait for it to reach a boil.
While it's heating, dice the onion and garlic however you like; I prefer to chop them into larger pieces since I was pressed for time as the water began to boil, and I needed to add the pasta. I substituted Vienna sausages in place of ham since I didn't have any on hand.
Once the water in the pot reaches a boil, add the pasta and cook for 10 minutes, making sure to taste it before setting it aside. After the pasta is cooked, rinse it under cold water or running water to prevent overcooking and sticking together.
Next, prepare the sauce by melting butter or margarine in a pan, then add the chopped onion and garlic, stirring for about a minute.
Incorporate the canned century tuna and sausage, stirring until everything is well combined and cooked through.
Next, pour in the all-purpose cream and mix thoroughly until everything is blended, then add the mushrooms along with the mushroom soup powder. The mushroom soup powder is optional if the mushrooms you purchased aren’t canned or don’t come with juice. I included it because the juice from the mushrooms enhances the flavor of the carbonara, making it more delicious.
Once you’ve mixed everything, add the grated cheese and stir again. Allow the cheese to melt completely. Taste the sauce to see if it needs any additional spices for seasoning. If you are satisfied to the taste, turn off the heat and mix in the pasta. Sprinkle in a little pepper and mix once more.
And there you go! You have a delicious creamy carbonara right in your own kitchen. I love cooking carbonara because it's my favorite pasta, and I could enjoy it all day long. I made a large batch, enough to serve five people. I only spent 300 pesos on this carbonara, and it's enough for five people?! Yes, you read that correctly! My mother enjoys the flavor of my carbonara, and even her friend tasted it and said it was incredibly creamy and delicious!
And this is the end of my blog, Hivers! Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, and I hope you’ll give this a try at home if you have some free time or you are craving for carbonara! Until my next cooking blog, see you then! Ciao!
Looks good and yummy , but here in Italy carbonara it's totally a different recipe.
Yes, it is and I think carbonara in Italy has less sauce compared to the carbonara we have here in the Philippines.
