A Michelin Star - Yauatcha, Bangalore.

This Chinese Dimsum Teahouse has been my go to place for lunch over many years. The dishes I instantly used to remember about was the Egg White Chicken Fried Rice with Spring Onion - Rs. 595 or the Roast Pork and Shrimp Fried Rice - Rs. 825, and the delicate yet decadent desserts. Raspberry Delice - Chocolate Mousse with Lychee Ripple Ice Cream - Rs. 525 used to be our instant craving. This time we wanted to try other dishes.

So here's what we tried...

Chicken and Coriander Dumpling - Rs. 395

The colour was the most appealing, though it wasn't worth the money. A dish I tried many years ago and was happy with but not this time. The increase in quantity would definitely make up for it, in the future. The table was left saddened with only one petit Dimsum on their individual plate.

But 10/10 for presentation!

The Steamy Kitchen

The ever bustling kitchen with sounds of noddles being tossed in woks and steam over consuming the kitchen. The view of hardworking chefs is quite a watch. Not a single minute gone with rest. You can see them skillfully and passionate preparing the meals for their ever hungry customers. The crowded restaurant waiting on their perfectly cooked meal, waiting in anticipation to taste each hot bite.

Sweet Corn Soup with Shredded Chicken - Rs. 400

This wasn't worth the money! It was salty and felt like an unnecessary dish in our whole meal. Though this is my go to dish in almost all restaurants. So was super disappointed.

Stir-Fry Udon Noodle - Rs. 745

(in Black Pepper Sauce and Mock Meat)

Chilli Garlic Sauce & Chilli Oil

Which one would you try with the Dimsum's?

I tried the Chilli Garlic Sauce. But I've loved dim sums with mustard sauce before so I wasn't so into these.

Stir-Fry Pak Choi - Rs. 525

This is a super hydrating dish, also fills the tummy in no time. I definitely LOVED IT!

Stir-Fry French Beans - Rs. 575

(with Shiitake Mushrooms)

The Shiitake Mushrooms were hidden below the Fibrous French Beans, the sauces made the mouth salivate as the taste matched 10/10. I truly enjoyed this variety of mushroom. I'd definitely give chances to try this dish over and over again.

Crispy Golden Pumpkin Prawn - Rs. 1055

Since Im allergic to Prawns I couldn't try these massive prawns, though everyone else at the table had a lot to say about this top scoring dish. Pumpkin & Prawns with little sprinkle of sesame seeds made it just WOW! This was a bite as unique and perfect it could get.

IMG_2518.jpeg

Fried Chilli Squid - Rs. 725

(With Oatmeal / Fragrant Chilli)

I wasn't excepting this dish to be so unique though I wish the portion was a bit more. The squid was well cooked and beautifully paired with oatmeal which made the dish more bland and soft. I normally order Butter Garlic Squid or Golden Fry, you could imagine my surprise to try this twist in a squid dish.

Kung Pao Chicken - Rs. 760

Though this teahouse is known for its softer and bland dishes, this dish was made perfectly spicy and crunchy yet so juicy chicken. The sour sauce made a great pairing with a mix of vegetables.

Chocolate Hazelnut Mousse - Rs. 525

(Praline & Chocolate Mousse, Crunchy Hazelnut Insert
served with Honeycomb Ice Cream)

The perfect show stopper of a dessert the chocolate smooth finish with creamy vanilla-caramel goodness. The hazelnut hints were subtle yet delectable.

The Bill

The service was a bit slow, the restaurant is either always jam packed during the lunch time and Dinner. Though it's quiet after 4 PM and it's great to see empty seats and isolated yet peaceful with good music selection.

Food: 5/5 | Service: 3/5 | Atmosphere: 3.5/5 | Value: 3/5

Selection of Ice Creams and Sorbets - Rs. 460

The Raspberry sorbet was quite sour but the caramel scoop was pleasantly sweet and the salty crunchy topping was slightly bitter.

That's about it for today, hoping you had a good read.

Some of that food is so beautiful! Art on a plate. Particularly the desserts and chicken coriander dumplings. 😍

I know right, the food always looks so good, and many a times I go there super hungry and wait to take a bite of the colorful dumplings. 😂

I always like this kind of food, the savory taste is very pronounced, especially like kung pao chicken. Sharing that really makes you craving. Ahahaha

Oh I completely agree! 😁 It was so yummy and slightly spicy too.
