There are three parts to this snack - the beverage, the snack, and the eating.
1. The Beverage
Measure and pour 1/4 cup of cold water. You can use room temperature water if you would like. Afterward, pour in 3/4 cup of your favorite old-fashioned Egg Nog and stir for about one minute using a fork (or chopstick). Any brand of Egg Nog will work (e.g. Alpenrose, Darigold, et cetera). Make sure that the Egg Nog has been refrigerated for approximately 24 hours before use.
2. The Snack
Get a box of non-salted saltine crackers and break a couple of crackers into three small pieces. You can include your favorite small dish or simply have the crackers alone. If you are cold, you can also include a hot sausage to warm you up.
3. The Eating
When eating the snack, it's best to chew the saltine cracker before drinking the egg nog. Make sure that you swirl all the egg nog liquids around in your mouth and mix it around with the chewed-up crackers. The taste and experience can vary across many individuals, but the common response amongst my friends is that it tastes like a special holiday cookie. If your mouth feels too cold, you might want to eat a small piece of a hot sausage to warm yourself up.
Et voila! You have yourself a merry little holiday snack experience! Let me know in the comments what you think and what your experience was. Have a great day!
