Fun times at the potato patch

This is my first try and growing potatoes and I want to show how easy it is. With food scarcity happening as inflation rages everyone that has the space should try and produce some food independently.

This garden was started roughly 3 months ago with a few handfuls of golf ball sized potatoes or smaller that were sitting around from a bag of potatoes that I bought from the store.

The soil was loosened up by flipping it over with a shovel and then the potatoes were planted a few inches below the surface. They were watered every day or two and a small sprinkle of fertilizer was given over the first two months.

I was careful to leave any spiders intact which helped eat any pests. This one has the body the size of a dime and it's caught a few crickets over the months.

It's kind of amazing how these form under the ground over a fairly short period of time. This is around 2/3rds of the crop, not a huge amount but for almost no effort it was nice to have some fresh potatoes I grew myself over a few meters of area.
