Never-fail spicy cilok recipe //favorite snack

in Foodies Bee Hive8 days ago

Hello culinary lovers wherever you are, today I thought about making a snack that I like and is currently popular in my area, namely cilok. I like this snack and so does my best friend, so I plan to visit my childhood friend's house this evening, so I decided to make it and share it with her. She really likes this food, why not, usually every time we go out for a walk she always stops by to buy this snack, namely cilok. Hopefully she is happy when I bring her her favorite snack. Oh yeah, I also don't forget to share with you but only the recipe, friends 🤭, you can try making it if you like.

This cilok snack is similar to the cireng snack that I made before, namely both using basic ingredients of aci or tapioca flour which has a chewy texture, as a result, these snacks are almost the same, only the spices and shapes are slightly different. The name cilok is taken from the abbreviation aci dicolok, namely when we eat this snack, it is dicolok/taken using a stick/skewer. Okay, let's see the ingredients and steps for making it below.

Ingredient Needed:

  • 20 tablespoons Tapioca flour
  • 10 tablespoons wheat flour
  • 3 cloves garlic (mashed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon mushroom stock
  • 1/2 teaspoon chicken flavoring
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper powder
  • 1 stalk of spring onion
  • 3 pieces of kaffir lime leaves
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 liter of water

Fine spices

First: put the wheat flour into a pan, add the previously mashed garlic, add the pepper powder, mushroom stock, flavoring, finely chopped spring onions and salt. Add water, stir until everything is dissolved and mixed. Then turn on the stove

Third: add tapioca flour to the hot dough, stir using your hands until the dough can be shaped. Form small balls like meatballs or cut into pieces according to taste. Do this until the dough runs out

Fourth: heat water to boil. Add a little cooking oil to the boiling water so that the cilok balls do not stick together. Wait until it boils. Put some small cilok balls into the boiling water. Boil until the cooked cilok floats. Remove and drain. Add a little cooking oil so that it does not stick. Do this until the dough runs out. Set aside

Fifth: prepare the fine spices. Put all the ingredients in a blender to be smoothed

Sixth: heat the oil for sauteing. Saute the ground spices, add salt (you can add granulated sugar or palm sugar if you like a slightly sweet taste). Add the lime leaves. Cook until cooked or until it gives off a delicious aroma. Don't forget to check the taste.

The dish is finished..

This cilok recipe produces a delicious and tasty taste, this snack also has a soft, chewy, soft texture, even though it is cold it is not hard and certainly anti-fail, why not, the way to make it is quite easy and simple, anyone will definitely be able to make it right away. Eat this cilok snack doused with chili hot sauce which makes this snack perfect and delicious. There are also those who combine it with peanut sauce, it's according to each person's taste.
