There are various papaya flower dishes that are very easy to make at home, for example, stir-fried, papaya flowers cooked with coconut milk, boiled and then dipped in chili paste are also very appetizing for lovers of this vegetable. And many more. You can also cook papaya flowers with various proteins such as shrimp, salted squid or small anchovies. The following stir-fried papaya flower recipe uses shrimp. If you don't have shrimp, you can use other types of protein, my friends.
This vegetable menu is one of my husband's favorite menus. Luckily we can find it very easily because we have it in the garden. Because in the area where I live, papaya flowers are one of the vegetables that are quite expensive. So to buy a lot, you have to do the calculations first. Hehe oh yeah, it seems like this stir-fried dish is familiar to you. Why not, the ingredients used for stir-frying are very common, just like stir-frying using other ingredients too. However, I will still share my cooking experience here. Let's see how to make it. Before that, we start by preparing the ingredients first.
Ingredients needed:
- 300 grams of papaya flowers
- 100 grams of shrimp sabu
- 100 grams of red chili
- 7 cloves of shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 segment of ginger
- 2 pieces of kaffir lime leaves
- Sufficient cooking oil for sauteing
How to make:
First: soak the shrimp sabu for a while while waiting for the other ingredients to be ready.
Second: peel the shallots and garlic. Wash all the ingredients and chop all the ingredients, namely shallots, garlic, red chili. Then remove the middle stem on the kaffir lime leaves because I used old kaffir lime leaves so I didn't chop them (if the kaffir lime leaves are young, you can just chop them finely)
Third: heat the oil. Add the shallots first until slightly wilted. Then add the garlic, red chili and ginger, wait until slightly wilted. Add the shrimp sabu, previously boiled papaya flowers and kaffir lime leaves. Stir well. Then add salt and flavoring. If so, don't forget to correct the taste.
For how to boil papaya flowers so that they are not bitter, you can see it in my previous post "Recipe for urap papaya flower vegetables" my friends.
This dish is perfect as a friend of grilled fish and sambal fish or others. This stir-fried papaya flower is not bitter at all, it tastes very delicious, especially eaten with warm rice. Because I don't really like bitter vegetables. Unlike my father. He prefers processed papaya flowers with a little bitterness, because according to him the bitter sensation of papaya flowers is actually one of the uniqueness of this dish.
