Due to the increase of corona virus spreading, again we have a complete lockdown going on here for a week. The lockdown will be applicable for all except for some emergency offices and health workers. Even though my office is open at this time, I have decided to work from home in this week. Since today is Friday and my weekend, I'm staying at home and trying to make homemade ghee.
All the members of my family like to drink milk. So, every day while the milk was boiled, a good portion of skim of milk was taken out from there. Today we made ghee from the collected skim of the past few days. So, let's see step by step process of making homemade ghee.
All the ingredients that are needed to make ghee-
--Skim of milk
--Blender machine
--Cooking pan
—Water
—Oven
A good portion of the skim that we stored is poured into the blender. Then I added additional water there and blend it in that blender for few minutes. After blending for a while, you will see that a creamy layer has been formed on top of the liquid. The creamy player should be separated from the surface of the milky portion and stored in a different container.
The milky part that can be seen after separating the creamy layer is called Mattha. Many people like to drink this Mattha in the early morning and they consider it as good for health.
The creamy layer that were collected has to be washed in a container with water. This creamy part of the milk has to be cleaned until the remaining water turns into clean water.
Then the washed butter should be put in a cooking pan and put in the oven. Then, it has to be boiled on low heat. After heating it gently for few minutes you will observe that the colour of that liquid is constantly changing. You have to continue the process until it turns into a completely clear brown liquid.
When you finally see that the beautiful smell of ghee is coming from this clean brown liquid, you will realize that the process of making ghee has been completed. Here is the picture after completing the final process.
Hope it will be beneficial for those who want to make ghee at home.
