Hello, friends especially foodies!
Have you ever missed one dish so much? I missed hainanese rice so badly on recent Sunday so i went to the specialist of it...
The name of the restaurant where i had my hainanese rice was Wee Nam Kee Chicken Rice.
Established in Singapore since 1989, this was one of the legendary iconic there. Once i had it here in Jakarta but not in Singapore, i haven't gone to their branch there.
From the front it had authentic thick chinese color of logo with red and yellow color. Unique red birdcage lamps inside. You could also see even foreigners looked enjoy the food there.
Beside chicken rice, they showed some of their other menus on their banner outside their restaurant.
Like you could see they had chicken drumstick (which i was curious about), mui fan with chicen or seafood, salted egg deep fried dough sticks, dumpling soup, beancurd hotplate, slice fish curry, red ruby iced and red bean iced.
Inside, they had a quite large dining area with lots of tables and chairs. The dining area had brown dominant color with a touch of blue color from some of the chairs like a blush haha but i thought it wasn't proper cause they looked too eyecatching.
Look! on one of its' wall it had the picture of merlion, an iconic Singapore lion statue.
Anyway it also had an artificial fall season maple tree which looked unmatched with Singapore weather and also the weather here. Maybe they added this decor in order to complete their brown color decor.
Even they looked unmatched but this restaurant still had cozy comfy nice dining place to dine in.
In their menu book, they offered nyonya steamed fish, beef charsiu, mongolian beef, crispy shandong beef, honey crispy sotong (squid).
For their signature chicken they had choices of the chicken in steamed, roasted or soya sauce. And you could buy it in whole chicken (suitable for 6-8 persons), half chicken, quarter chicken even bought them in packages with fragrant hainanese rice. To complete it you could also buy the gizard or egg.
Some of the appetizer that they sold there were chicken drumstick, furong, springrolls, deep fried dumpling, prawn rolls in beancurd skin, steamed chicken salad, prawn paste chicken wings, original deep fried dough sticks, padangnese sauce deep fried dough sticks, fried mantau, and salted egg deep fried dough sticks.
For the soup, they had tom yum seafood soup, bitter gourd soup, dumpling soup, mapo tofu, braised beancurd, and beancurd hotplate.
They also had beef mushroom with oyster sauce...
stirred fried beef in black bean sauce, stirred fried beef with ginger and spring onion, and black pepper beef hotplate.
While for the poultry they had sweet and sour chicken, and some others which i didn't take any pictures of. They also had congee, fried rice and some others.
From their menu looked like they only sold halal menu which means it is safe for our moslem friends to dine there.
Enough with the menu, i would get you dig more about the food that i ordered and how it tasted. Bon appetite and hope you enjoy it!
I orderd their drum stick chicken rice package.
The package included fragrant hainanese rice, roasted chicken in drumstick, a bowl of soup and a glass of tea.
Their fragrant hainanese rice smelled and tasted so good. The rice were not soft nor hard. It had tasty savory flavour.
The fragrant that came from the rice was because it cooked in chicken stock and infused oil with fresh pandan leaves, garlic, ginger and other ingredients. So tasty unforgetable!
Next, their roasted chicken...
It was tender soft, had tasty sweet and savory flavour. The flavour deep infiltrated in the chicken meat. You need to try this. Even they served it with the soup that had tasty savory in deep broth. So tasty!
So i recommend you to try eating Fragrant Chicken Rice there, even myself curious to try their other menus!
