Hey everyone! Today I'll be talking about a restaurant that specializes in what is probably my favorite meal of the day, BREAKFAST. Honestly, I feel like breakfast is the one meal that's pretty hard to do wrong. While I'm usually happy with fried rice and eggs, I totally do not mind having some fancy breakfast, I even had pancakes with foie gras before which was totally crazy. Anyway, let's get to it!
Breakfast at Antonio's
This particular restaurant is probably one of the more established ones in Tagaytay. From the name itself, it's from the Antonio's Group of Restaurants that own the fine-dining restaurant Antonio's and the Filipino restaurant, Balay Dako. They currently only allow vaccinated individuals to dine in so make sure to bring your card or your e-certificate.
When we went, there weren't really a lot of people so that really helped with my anxiety. It was a bit foggy so we couldn't really see Taal Lake and that's why I didn't take any pictures.
When you enter the restaurant, you'll come across their deli store where you can buy frozen goods, pastries, and even liquor. I usually get a couple of pastries or their frozen corned beef whenever I visit. They also have a really good selection of jams and marmalades which goes so well with their yummy bread.
They also have a selection of homemade ice cream! I recommend the Dark Chocolate with Peanut Butter Cups or the Banana with Caramelized White Chocolate if you want something less rich. But honestly, they all sound so good so I doubt you'd regret getting the others.
Food and Drinks
We came here just in time for brunch so we mostly got breakfast staples and then some pasta and pizza to share. Naturally, we also got coffee since the bf has made it his mission to taste all the coffee in the world. Lol.
My boyfriend got the Golden Waffle Set which comes with a choice of either bacon or pork sausage. It also comes with syrup (either burnt or berry) and then topped with whipped butter. The bacon was really crispy and the waffle was perfect with the syrup and the butter.
If you've read my previous posts, you would know that Eggs Benedict is my go-to order during breakfast haha. I feel like it's a good way to gauge how good a restaurant is when you see how they prepare their eggs. As you can see in the photos, their poached eggs are perfectly runny, definitely A+ for me. I chose the smoked salmon this time around cause I was really craving for it. It also came with a caramelized banana and pineapple, which provides a good contrast to the hollandaise sauce.
We also ordered some Carbonara, which I don't recommend doing when you're in the Philippines cause more often than not you're gonna get the bastardized version, but not here. Anyway, this was sufficiently cheesy and definitely did not skimp on the protein!
For our last shared meal, we got this Cinco Formaggi Pizza. You really can taste the different cheeses, although it was probably a bad idea to pair with the carbonara cause they're both so rich already. The Margherita would probably be a better choice if you're already getting something rich for the pasta. Anyway, this was still pretty good but really rich so you might wanna keep that in mind.
Last but not the least, of course, is the coffee! I ordered an Iced Macchiato which was pretty ok. Definitely not coffee shop level good but it's alright. I really wish we ordered dessert here cause the next place we went to (Bag of Beans) definitely doesn't taste as good as I remember. From my previous visits here, what I can recommend are their Apple Crumble and the Bread & Butter Pudding.
Anyway, that's all the time I have for now! If you enjoyed this post, you can read about my other posts regarding travel and food by following me. I sometimes post about Splinterlands as well. If you've been here or if you have other restaurants you can recommend, do let me know in the comments. Hope you're all safe wherever you are, till next time!
Yuuuummmmmmm i miss all of thiisss
Sameeeeeeee
Oh good lord they have some really good bagels and that homemade icecream looks mad. The carbonara and Cinco Formaggi Pizza looks might fine as well uggh i'm drooling!
Yessss! Their baked goods are all really good! Yeah now I'm super regretting not getting ice cream. Thanks for reading! :)
Hopefully one day I make it to Antonio's!
