I've an easy papaya dish recipe to share with you!
Today, I made food that felt cozy and healthy at the same time. It's a soft and silky stir fried papaya. It goes well with rice.
For that you need a raw papaya. Kerala has papaya trees growing wild pretty much everywhere. So, back home, we never really bought papaya from stores. This was something my mom used to make and i used to hate anything healthy as a kid.
However, tables have turned around. I feel like a grandma to always look for holistic ways to live now especially in terms of food.
Well, peel, deseed and grate the papaya. If you are new to cooking like me, this is going to be a surprise arm exercise!
Now, you need a small onion and five garlic cloves. Chop them thin so that it'll get soft easier. You'll need an oil of your choice, salt, chilli powder and turmeric. That's the complete ingredients list.
I'm not sharing it using any metrics because it all depends on how big of a fruit you're taking and your spice tolerance. The essence of the whole dish is the softened papaya. So, you can adjust the flavours according to your taste.
I use coconut oil and I love the flavour it gives. Saute the onions and garlic in a pan and add the three powders. Add the grated papaya and cover it with the lid. Wait for it to get soft on a low flame.
This is how it'll look when you add everything in the pan.
It'll turn a bright yellow because of the turmeric. Once it is boiled and soft, you can switch off the flame. It's all ready!
We had rice, the above papaya dish and a special egg scramble. The scramble is special according to the person who cooked it. And I agree it tasted nice.
Here's the final bowl. I was surprised by how good it was all combined.
Disclaimer: I wrote this as part of my actifit post where i generally share the food of the day. But, for some reason, I'm not able to post it because of the time-issue.
Have a great day, Bye!
